Nue CPQ, explained: company, architecture, pricing, and fit

Nue is a quote-to-revenue platform for B2B SaaS companies: CPQ, subscription management, billing, and revenue reporting from one vendor. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in San Francisco, it is listed on the Salesforce AppExchange and runs on its own data store with an integration into Salesforce. Nue does not publish pricing. It fits SaaS teams that want billing bundled with CPQ and accept that quote data lives partly outside the org.

The company

Nue.io was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in San Francisco. Its co-founders are Mark Walker (CEO) and Tina Kung (CTO); the company describes its founding team as veterans of Zuora, Anaplan, and SteelBrick (nue.io/company). Its product is listed on the AppExchange as “Omni-channel CPQ and Frictionless Billing on Salesforce for Every Modern Revenue Model”.

The architecture

Nue is built around its own platform and data store. Salesforce users work through Nue’s components inside Salesforce, and Nue syncs the resulting quote, order, subscription, and invoice records to Salesforce objects. That design gives Nue a single engine across Salesforce and non-Salesforce channels (self-service, product-led), at the cost of Salesforce not being the system of record for every revenue object. Practical consequences for a Salesforce-only team:

  • Reporting and Agentforce see the synced records, not the engine’s.
  • A second admin surface exists outside Setup.
  • Leaving Nue means exporting from Nue first, then reconciling to the Salesforce copies (Nue migration playbook, typically 3–6 weeks).

Pricing

Nue does not publish list prices; its pricing page asks you to contact sales (nue.io/pricing). For comparison, Kugamon publishes $65 (CPQ), $95 (Quote to Cash or Subscription Management), and $125 (Subscription Billing) per user per month on the AppExchange, and Salesforce publishes $150 / $200 for Revenue Cloud. Our calculator uses a labeled estimate for Nue.

Who Nue fits, and who it does not

Nue fits when…Look at a Salesforce-native CPQ when…
You are a SaaS company that wants CPQ and billing from one vendor. You sell one-time products, services, or a mix of one-time and subscription revenue.
Self-service and product-led channels matter as much as rep-led quoting.Rep-led quoting in Salesforce is the main motion.
You accept a second data store and admin console. You want every quote, order, and subscription to be a Salesforce record your admin owns.
Unpublished, quoted pricing is acceptable. You want published per-user pricing and a fixed implementation fee.

Native alternatives compared: Salesforce-native CPQ, defined. Wider field: seven Salesforce CPQ alternatives.

Nue is listed on the AppExchange and its components run inside Salesforce, but the engine and data store are Nue’s own, with records synced to Salesforce objects. Under the strict definition — every revenue object is a Salesforce record with no external system of record — it is not fully native. See the definition.

Mark Walker (CEO) and Tina Kung (CTO) co-founded Nue in 2019. The company is headquartered in San Francisco (nue.io).

Nue does not publish pricing; contact sales (nue.io/pricing). Published comparables: Kugamon $65–$125 per user per month (AppExchange); Salesforce Revenue Cloud $150–$200 (Salesforce).

Export catalog, price lists, open quotes, and active subscriptions from Nue; reconcile them to the Salesforce copies; load into the target; run one quote cycle in parallel. To Kugamon this typically takes 3–6 weeks (playbook).
